Strolling Duval Street, Key West

After a hearty brunch at Blue Heaven, a stroll was in order, so we headed to nearby Duval Street.  On our way I spotted a place that made me think of our nephew and his wife:

Enough champagne with do this to a person:

Is it me you’re looking for?

Well, isn’t that a little bit of happy on the left, and a little bit of ouch on the right?

Didn’t visit this one, but its entrance was intriguing.

Would you venture down here to check out Back Bar? Maaaaybe.

We spent quite some time at Wyland Galleries.  I really liked one of the featured guest artists, and Brent and Jill found one they really liked as well.  When all was said and done, we admired, and we really thought about it, but there wasn’t anything on this particular day that spoke to us enough to commit.  And, once again, no photos out of respect, and, at Wyland, I’m pretty sure it’s against policy.

The next gallery we went to was Estate Liquidators.  DO NOT buy from this place!  It’s all pretty and colorful, but most of what’s featured there is incredibly overpriced.  I have a couple pieces featured at this place that I picked up for 1/4 the price.  I fell in love with one piece, and the owner promptly offered me a “special price” at 60% off.  Good grief.

It was still fun looking at all the artistic, shiny things.

This reminded me of a piece my friend Ann and I took a picture with at a street fair in Palm Springs, CA

Steve LOVES horses, and this piece was spectacular.

Ohhh, shiny and bright.

These guys cracked me up! One day I will have one.

We stopped in at a few other shops and small galleries, and I’m pretty sure Brent and Steve were simply indulging Jill and I.  Thanks, guys!

Look what we found! Another, clearly older, Hogfish Bar and Grill truck.

On our way back to the Jeep, we passed this house.  I’ll bet the person living here is a kick in the pants.

Look a little closer:

Before we headed back to our RV, we stopped in to sit a spell on Brent and Jill’s balcony.

Spotted on our way back to our campground.  Way to go, free spirited Key West person, whoever you are.

Brent and Jill joined us back at our RV, bringing with them conch fritters and Key lime pie from Hogfish Bar and Grill.  Steve and I ordered wood fired pizza from Roostica Wood-Fire Pizzeria, and the four of us enjoyed the warm sunshine and cooling ocean breeze seated outside at our RV site at Boyd’s Campground.  The pizza was pretty darn good, however, the pepperoni was so spicy we really couldn’t taste much else, so we wound up taking it off.  Jill had been told by her son-in-law to try all the conch fritters we could get our hands on, and as expected, Hogfish’s were quite tasty.  If we ever have the good fortune to visit Key West again, we’ll definitely go back to Hogfish Bar and Grill.

Another wonderful day.  As the sun started to dip into the horizon, Brent and Jill headed back to their hotel.  Steve and I watched the boats turn bright orange before the sun disappeared completely, while chatting about how grateful we are to have these friends, and this time together in this beautiful place.
