El Charro Cafe, Tucson, AZ

How we’ve visited Tucson so many times and never dined at El Charro Cafe is beyond me. It is the oldest, continuously running, family-owned restaurant in the United States. The original location (where we had dinner) used to be the family home, part of which became the cafe way back in 1922. Calling ahead to make reservations is how I discovered…

Sentinel Peak RV Park

Our first night’s stay was at a very small park located super close to U of A and downtown Tucson.  Sentinel Peak RV Park is situated between apartment complexes, in what could have easily been an automotive repair shop in a different life.  The office and clubhouse are housed in a newer, clean metal building with a few rollup doors that…

Annnnd We’re on Our Way

There’s something special about the first day on the road when leaving for a long trip. The anticipation of adventures ahead, the settling in behind the wheel, or in my case, raising the footrest of my recliner and at last being able to gaze out the expansive windshield. But, seriously folks, it’s mostly the relief that the exhausting preparations are…

Hello!

I’m in the process of moving my previous blog, “The Rolling Homebody”, over to this easier to find, updated blog. Instead of attempting a kitschy title, I’ve kept it simple using just my name, so there ya go, family and friends. It may take some time to move my old posts over, but I wanted to get this up and running…

Day Two, Coeur d’Alene, ID

We added another Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives to our list of visited DDDs having lunch at Capone’s Pub & Grill.  We all enjoyed our food, our server was friendly, and the atmosphere was pub-house comfortable.  The restaurant is located in a funky little part of town, and I really enjoyed the vibe.  Gotta love places that don’t take themselves too…

First Full Day in Coeur d’Alene

Kay’s cousin Mikki and her husband Steve invited us over for a visit, so off we went to Post Falls, a city adjacent to Coeur d’Alene.  They live in a beautiful neighborhood.  Mature pines are scattered throughout nicely landscaped yards.  Well-kept mostly two story homes, walking paths, and a gazebo on the green belt completed the Mayberry feel.  At first…

On the Road Again

Ahhh, the open road.  It has a magical way of turning my husband from Mr. Grumpy Pants into one happy camper. Literally. You know the saying, “If Mom’s happy, everyone’s happy”?  Well, the same can be said for the Dad at our house.  And once our house is rolling down the road, all is right with my world. Most of…

We Just Booked THE Balloon Fiesta!

I am so excited!  Next month I get to check something off my bucket list! We’ve reserved our spot at New Mexico’s infamous Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta!  At last I’ll have the chance to see hundreds of hot air balloons, all sizes, shapes, and colors, gathered together in one place.  The “Dawn Patrol”, and the “Balloon Glow” are two sights…

We’re Going to Austin, Texas

We plan on leaving around the first of October, and we’re not really sure how long we’ll be gone.  At least a month, if the winds blow in our favor.  We’ll be visiting our dear friends in Austin, Texas.  Actually, it’s our dear friends, their kids, and grandkids. They just relocated from Huntington Beach to the Austin area, following their…

Hey There!

I’ll be recapping some of our more memorable trips, and look forward to sharing upcoming ones as well.  I have no idea where this new venture will take me,…
